Educational program has been opened in August 2007 (pages in Norwegian)

The Programme is highly interdisciplinary involving five faculties; Faculty of Mathematics and natural sciences including physics, chemistry, mathematics, informatics, molecular biology and biology; Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Odontology involving biomedicine, clinical medicine, and dental clinical research; Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Social sciences involving ethics and social implications of nanoscience.

At present, the UiB Nanoscience Programme areas are

Nanobiology
   - Nanotechnology applications in biology and medicine

Nanoprocess
    - Nanotechnology for energy and process technology

Nanobasic
    - Fundamental experiments/metrology, measurement principles, theory & modelling

Nanoethics
    - Ethical and social implications of nanotechnology

Interdisciplinary international cooperation is a prerequisite for all projects being established.
